The 'Milkhaus' Project was a concept for releasing a new product that would be so gourmet people would call it 'the champagne of dairy'. I wanted to incorporate well-known dairy imagery with the cow print pattern and the black and white product name to balance out the louder and more geometric elements I used in the design. The geometric design was a nod to the Bauhaus movement of the 1930's - inspiring the product name. To make it more modern and fun I used a bright, diverse color palette so it would pop out on the shelves. A four-carton carrier was also designed for the project.
The Bauhaus movement was founded on the radical idea of bridging the gap between high-brow art and low-brow functional craft. I believe this fits nicely with the concept of the high-brow gourmet milk, yet low-brow functional design of the traditional milk carton.
Realistic mock-ups were created in Photoshop to bring clarity and persuasion to the design. These mock-ups demonstrate how the idea actually lives in the real world - turning an idea into a tangible and visible image.
For the initial phase of the project, I created a milk-carton template in Adobe Illustrator and experimented with various designs until I found the right combination. This is the final design in flat format.
