The task for this project was to create an image using only typography.
To begin creating this image, I used an illustration of the design as a template. To create contrast - highlights and shadows - I used four different fonts and varied the weights and sizes of each. I used Baloo 2 Extra Bold for the hair, giving it the heaviest weight and darkest color. Acumin Pro Extra Condensed Ultra Black was used for the outlines of the eyes. I created the circular shape using the Type on a Path tool in Adobe Illustrator. The neck used Aktiv Grotesque Thai Bold - a slightly lighter weight than the hair to show contrast. Aileron Bold was used for the mouth, while the rest of the face and the shoulder were created with Aileron Ultralight to show the highlights.
Creating the right shape and edges was the real challenge. I did this by playing around with the 'Lorem Ipsum' text, varying the length and words of the placeholder text until the edges lined up.
